Shipley Energy Hosts Mobile Mammography

Shipley Energy proudly hosted a WellSpan mobile mammography event at our York, Pennsylvania, headquarters on November 7th, 2023. We were delighted to discover that all available appointments were swiftly booked by community members. Breast Cancer Awareness holds a special place in our hearts, particularly because we have a few remarkable survivors on our team. With nearly 300,000 cases of breast cancer diagnosed in the United States annually, mammograms serve as the initial crucial step in early detection.

4-H Support and Donation

Shipley Energy is proud to have supported Adams County National 4-H Council with the purchase of a steer at the South Mountain Fair from Mady, a sixth grader who loves barrel racing, showing her red & white heffer, and helping her mom with flowers.

We were thankful for the opportunity to donate the meat to New Hope Ministries, South Central PA to help feed those in need.

We thank each of these organizations for all they do for our community and are proud to aid in their missions!

Warm Hearts, Warm Communities

After the devastating fire at Horn Farm Center of Agricultural Education, Shipley Energy is thankful for the opportunity to lend a helping hand in their recovery efforts. The Shipley Energy HVAC team was proud to help, donating time and equipment to install a heat pump system into Horn Farm Center’s summer kitchen. Historically a seasonal building, the summer kitchen now serves as one of two heated spaces on the property for year-round use and will provide a warm (and air-conditioned) refuge for Horn Farm Center staff and volunteers during the rebuild.

Downtown Inc

Shipley Energy is a company born and raised in York City. Because of that, we have a solid drive to improve the community and to give back as much as we can. One of the groups we closely work with is Downtown Inc, an organization working to enhance and encourage investment in York’s central business district. We are stout supporters of Downtown Inc’s goal. The annual Masquerade Ball is their signature fundraising event, and Shipley Energy is their primary sponsor.

Light Up The Night

As a company, we are very involved with The City of York. Many of the events we support occur around the Christmas season. York City Light Up Night is an extremely popular event that Shipley Energy sponsors. The night is a celebration full of live entertainment, family-friendly activities, food, carol singalongs, and the lighting of the York City Christmas Tree. The other event we sponsor is the Children’s New Year’s Party which is perfect for families.

Hurricane Harvey Relief – Summer 2018

Access to basic necessities can be limited after a natural disaster. Hurricane Harvey interrupted life for many Texans. We are proud of Shipley Energy’s team for donating a large amount of supplies to the relief effort. Thank you to Bailey Coach for transporting the supplies to Texas!

Habitat for Humanity

For one week in March of 2015, Shipley Energy had various teams working on a home that Habitat for Humanity was building. The teams finished dry walling the home and assisted in other installations. The home was located in Downtown York City.

The County Cup

Every year, Shipley Energy has a team participate in the County Cup. The County Cup is a fundraising event held by the Rotary Club of York where teams of players participate in games of croquet. There are various cash prizes that can be won and are all given to charity. Shipley Energy’s charity is raising money for the Reid Menzer Memorial Skatepark. The skatepark is located close to the Penn State, York campus. The park opened in September of 2008 as a memorial to 14-year-old Reid Menzer, who was killed when he was struck by a car while riding his street luge. The park is extremely unique and heavily used as it provides a much needed, safe space for skateboarders to ride. As of now, the park is so popular that it requires expansion.

Making Strides Against Breast Cancer – October 2018

Positive Energy Arts Foundation

Who We Are

PEA logo

Positive Energy Arts is a not-for-profit organization, created by Shipley Energy in 2012, that is focused on the larger mission of improving local communities through the Arts. In its many forms, Art enriches the physical, economic, social and cultural elements of a community. It is essential to the human experience. Almost as soon as motor skills are developed in a child, they begin communicating through artistic expression. So our mission to provide Dance Arts education to youth who would otherwise not have access, is also our promise to engage, enrich, and inspire communities to keep the Arts alive!

Who We Serve

Positive Energy Arts has offered a wide range of programming in Harrisburg and York Counties since it’s inception. Currently we are focused on serving within York City. But why?

  1. York City School District is among the worst ranked/performing schools in the state of Pennsylvania
  2. The eradication of music and arts programming is ever increasing in poorly performing school districts
  3. 90% of York City youth live below the poverty line which has a direct impact on their access to the Arts

Why dance?

Dance combines the transformative power of music and movement to create a visual, auditory, and kinesthetic learning experience! It’s one of the only forms of Art that engages the total child. Positive Energy goes a step farther by utilizing hip-hop dance to help meet the students where they are and infuses each dance class with success principles that promote self confidence, social skills, physical and holistic body exercise, and prevention.

While embedded in the Harrisburg School district, we affected over 15,000 youth as a community outreach and performing arts education program. We utilize professional arts presentations, workshops and public performances to engage the community and decided to bring our work to York in 2016. Since then we have partnered with the York City School District and York County Libraries to bring Dance Arts to students year round! Learn more here.

Working efficiently with other local organizations, like the Salvation Army York, Children’s Home of York, Communities of Hope Center, and St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church Youth Center, Positive Energy has been able to deliver over 8 years of programming in schools that is positively changing lives! Through participatory classes in dance, inspirational mentoring, and structured guidance we’ve put over 18,000 youth on stages to showcase what they’ve learned to their friends, parents, and communities.

Led by a dedicated board of Governors, Positive Energy Arts is committed to providing maximum inspiration in the lives of students who would otherwise not have access due to funding, transportation, or language barriers. Every student should be apart of a learning process that encourages creative expression, self confidence, and pathways to success.

“If you can be on stage and be confident, there is just about anything you can do.” – William Shipley III, Co-Founder, Shipley Group
