Positive Energy is a not-for-profit organization, created by Shipley Energy in 2012, that is focused on the larger mission of improving local communities. They strive to be the starting point for change in distressed, urban schools and help students find something that will change their life. Their goal is to engage the disengaged and to create “miracles” for the kids in the programs, 90% of whom live below the poverty level and are under significant emotional stress on a daily basis. They also focus on the mission of contributing to community improvement by embedding the arts into urban environments in order to attract economics growth of all kinds.
Positive Energy Arts Foundation is a dance-based education program dedicated to providing inspiration to young individuals through the arts. Their program educates, enriches, and inspires young people throughout the Susquehanna Valley through culturally-relevant dance.
This organization provides a resource of nationally recognized arts and education leaders, professional artists, and local organizations to help educate and enrich the lives of students and communities. Positive Energy gives young people the opportunity to participate in art experiences that engage, enrich, and inspire.
Working efficiently with other local organizations, like the York County Library System, educators, and schools, Positive Energy is able to deliver programming in schools and positively changes lives through participatory classes in dance, inspirational mentoring, and structured guidance.
“Our goal is to help young people learn and to be part of creative learning by pushing boundaries and finding talent that would otherwise go undiscovered. If you can be on stage and be confident, there is just about anything you can do.” - William Shipley III, CEO of Shipley Energy
